Hoskins and McDavid Win B.A.I.T. TN-I on Cherokee

Bret Hoskins and Greg McDavid took top honors on Cherokee, Sunday May 25th, 2008, at B.A.I.T. TN-I's final qualifying tournament of the 2007 - 2008 season. The weather was beautiful and warm. Hoskins and McDavid had five largemouth that weighed 19.07 lbs. and was worth $1,500.00 for first place. Second place went to Bill Humbard and Greg Warren with five nice smallmouths that weighed 18.79 lbs. and was worth $800.00. Third place went to the B.A.I.T. VA-I Director, Ken Vicchio and Steve Painter with 18.40 lbs. and was worth $600.00. Fourth place went to Kevin and Page Powers with 14.18 lbs. and was worth $500.00. Fifth place went to Troy and Denton Jones with 13.92 lbs. and was worth $400.00. Sixth place went to Max Carlton and Charles Whited with 12.45 lbs. worth $300.00. Seventh place went to Alex Carlin and Steve Gibson with 12.41 lbs. worth $200.00.

Largemouth lunker went to Bret Hoskins and Greg McDavid weighing 5.38 lbs. and was worth $280.00. Smallmouth lunker went to Bill Humbard and Greg Warren weighing 4.31 lbs. and was worth $280.00. Over $7,000.00 in cash and prizes was given away thanks to all our great sponsors.

The team of Tim Smiley and Mike Lowe won the second half Angler of the Year prize of $500.00. Smiley and Lowe also won the overall points for the 2007 - 2008 season which was worth an additional $1,000.00. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who fished this year!

There will be a Wildcard tournament Saturday May 31, 2008 on Cherokee Lake going out of the Dam. This will be a chance for five more teams to qualify for the Classic this year in Columbus, MS. Twenty-seven teams from TN-I have already qualified to go to the Classic, September 19th - 20th, 2008. The Classic is a two day event where first place will win a 210 Procraft boat with a 200 hp Mercury Optimax valued at over $35,000.00. Second place will be $10,000.00 cash. We will be paying one place for every five boats.

We will be changing from Sunday to Saturday for our tournament day next season. We are always trying to please the majority and with so many requests, we feel that we are moving in the right direction. Our new schedules will be out in August, 2008. Thanks to all our members and sponsors in the past and we look forward to the upcoming seasons.

A special thanks to Joe Lee and his family for taking over the Sportsmen's Ministries and providing coffee, snacks, scripture, prayer and fellowship to all.
