Smiley and Lowe Win B.A.I.T. TN-I on Douglas

Saturday December 5, 2009 was a cold and snowy wintry day. By blast - off time you could barely see. Forty - eight boats showed up to fish despite the harsh weather. Tim Smiley and Mike Lowe brought in the winning bag weighing 17.50 lbs. to take first place prize money of $2,500.00. Second place went to Doug and David Winchell with 16.13 lbs. worth $800.00. Third place went to Joe Lee and Chip Grubbs with 15.12 lbs. worth $500.00. Fourth place went to Gordon Monroe and Brian Harvey with 13.71 lbs. worth $400.00. Fifth place went to Jonathan Bowling and Mark Jackson with 13.31 lbs. worth $300.00. Sixth place went to Gary Pilkerton and Bobby Chambers with 12.41 lbs. worth $200.00.

There were no smallmouth weighed in, therefore the lunkers were split to pay 60 / 40. Both first and second lunkers were caught by the team of Tim Smiley and Mike Lowe. They weighed 5.44 and 5.18 lbs. and were worth $480.00. A total of over $5,500.00 (over 100% of entry fees) in cash and prizes was given away.

Congratulations to all and thanks for fishing "America's Best Team Trail". Plan to fish our next tournament February 20, 2010 on Cherokee Lake launching from the dam access area.
